David Goldsmith is the founder and president of new philanthropy media. With more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and foundation space, David is a recognized expert in the alignment between new technology and organizational effectiveness. David has advised leading foundations like the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, MacArthur Foundation and the Pew Charitable Trusts, as well as advocacy groups and policy think tanks like Environmental Defense and The Aspen Institute. David served as VP of Strategic Development for Interactive Applications Group (iapps) in Washington, DC and was Senior Vice President of Business Development at Bridgeline Software, a developer of Web application management software.
David began his career at the San Francisco-based Public Interest Clearinghouse, where he founded LegalAid/Net, an online network for public interest lawyers and anti-poverty advocates. In 1990 David became Development Director of HandsNet, a start-up online network created in partnership with Apple Computer and Hands Across America/USA for Africa to link organizations working on issues of social and economic justice. David has served on several nonprofit boards and is currently an adviser to the Utah Museum of Natural History and the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers. David holds a bachelors degree in Political Ecology from Huxley College of the Environment at Western Washington University.
